Queens' Family-Owned Security & Low-Voltage Experts Since 1983
We wire, install, and service commercial camera systems, burglar and fire alarms, access control, intercoms, structured cabling, and business phone systems — across Queens, the Bronx, Westchester, and Rockland County. George Legrand, the owner, walks every job and inspects the work before it is called done.

"Flexible scheduling and great followup after visit." — Jeffrey M., HomeAdvisor
What We Do — And Where to Start
We keep the business organized around the problems buildings actually have. If you know what you need, go straight to it. If you are not sure, call and we will point you.
Video Surveillance & Security Cameras
Coverage mapped to your building, proper cabling, and remote viewing that works from your phone — new installs, analog-to-IP upgrades, and system takeovers.
Alarm Systems — Burglar & Fire
Panel, sensors, and cellular backup from a NYS Licensed Alarm Installer. Honest monitoring options and takeovers of abandoned alarm systems.
Structured Cabling & Network Wiring
The Cat6 backbone everything else rides on — clean, tested, and documented runs for commercial buildings of any size.
Intercom & Entry Systems
Buzzers and IP video entry for storefronts, multi-tenant buildings, and controlled vestibules — integrated with access control.
VoIP & Business Phone Systems
Office phones and the secure network behind them — system design, installation, and ongoing support.
Home Theater & Automation
Residential low-voltage for Rockland and Westchester — home theater, automation, and structured cabling for the home.
We Take Over the System You Already Have
New management inherits a building and the security is a mess — an analog camera system nobody documented, an alarm still tied to a company that stopped answering, an intercom that has been dead for years. We assess what is there, keep what still works, replace only what has to go, and take over maintenance. No rip-and-replace by default. This is our signature work.

Security & Communications Built for Healthcare Facilities
Nurse call, intercom, surveillance, and access control for clinics, medical offices, and assisted living — often for new operators who inherited a neglected analog system. We assess, make practical suggestions, and maintain it cost-effectively.
Whether you are opening a new clinic or taking over a facility with systems nobody has touched in years, we walk the site and tell you honestly what needs to change.
Why a Queens Family Shop Beats a National Contract
George started in communications in 1983 and has run this company since 1996. When you hire us, the owner is on the job, not a subcontractor you never meet. That is the whole difference. Large national providers sell you a long monitoring contract and a call center; we sell you a system that fits your building and a number that reaches people who know your site.
Being family-owned and local also means we are honest about cost. Because our overhead is lean and George prices the work himself, you can often get the same or better system for less — and we will tell you when your existing gear still does the job instead of quoting a full replacement. That is how we have kept commercial clients across Queens and the Bronx for years: we show up, we do it right, and we follow up after the visit.
40+ Years in the Trade
George has been doing communications and low-voltage work in New York since 1983.
~80% Commercial Work
Storefronts, warehouses, offices, multi-tenant buildings, and healthcare facilities — this is our primary market.
Owner on Every Job
George inspects every job personally before it is called done. No handoff to a subcontractor you have never met.
We are based at 195-27 Woodwell Ave, Jamaica, NY 11423. See our full service area or read what customers say on our reviews page.
Where We Work
We are based in Jamaica, Queens, and Queens is our primary market. We also regularly serve the Bronx, Westchester County, and Rockland County — generally within about 20 to 35 miles of the shop.
We do not chase work in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Staten Island, because travel and traffic there make it hard to give the fast, hands-on service our commercial clients expect.

Frequently Asked Questions About City Electric & Communications
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Jamaica, Queens, and Queens is our primary market. We also regularly serve the Bronx, Westchester County, and Rockland County — generally within about 20 to 35 miles of the shop. We do not chase work in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Staten Island, because travel and traffic there make it hard to give the fast, hands-on service our commercial clients expect. Call 718-577-8339 and we will tell you honestly whether your site is in our range.
Do you work with commercial and residential customers?
Both, though roughly 80% of our work is commercial — storefronts, warehouses, offices, multi-tenant buildings, and healthcare facilities. We also do residential low-voltage, security, and home theater, most often in Rockland and Westchester. The trade skills are the same; a clean, tested cable run and a well-placed camera matter whether it is a warehouse or a house.
Can you take over or service a system another company installed?
Yes — this is one of the main reasons people call us. We regularly take over cameras, alarms, access control, and intercoms that another company installed and stopped supporting. We assess what is there, keep what still works, and replace only what needs it, then maintain it going forward. Call to book a walkthrough.
Are you licensed?
Yes. We are a NYS Licensed Alarm Installer, #12000086085, and we have been doing communications and low-voltage work in New York since 1983. George inspects every job personally, so the license is backed by an owner who actually stands behind the work. We are glad to show licensing before we start.
How do you keep pricing fair compared to big security companies?
We are a lean, family-run shop, so we do not carry the overhead or the aggressive sales machine that large national providers do — and George prices jobs himself. We give you real ranges up front, keep equipment you already own when it still works, and do not lock you into long monitoring contracts you cannot leave. Often you get the same or better service for less. Call 718-577-8339 and we will walk your building before quoting anything.
